5/6 LPS BLOG TERM 1 2016!

Welcome to the first blog entry for 2016. Grade 5/6 have had a fantastic start to the year!

In reading we have practised our fluency and strategies for becoming more fluent. Thank you to parents for reading at home with your children, it really shows in both their fluency and their love of reading.

In maths we have studied place value, decimals and really big numbers. See if your kids can tell you how many grains of rice there are in 1kg bag, make sure you guess first though!

We have just finished our descriptive writing unit in writing. Students used similes, metaphors, personification and many other literary devices to improve their writing and eventually produce a published piece. Well done 5/6ers!

The buddies program is in full swing, it's great to see maturity and responsibility from the Grade 5/6ers helping their buddies. Congratulations to both 5/6P and 5/6W who have already completed their buddy assemblies. You have set the bar for the rest of us!

5/6P had a particularly touching assembly to farewell Mrs O'Brien in their assembly (pictured below).

Thank you parents for all your support so far.
